When the angel told Joseph to name Mary’s child Jesus “Savior” he also revealed that this birth fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy of Emmanuel, “God with us.” Scripture’s focus is not merely the virgin birth but the staggering reality of the incarnation: that the eternal Son, very God of very God and very man of very man, entered our world in true humanity.
