Music's Lost History Artist Edition Did This Band Create MTV's Unplugged Series

They were from the 1980's but do not call them a Hair Band. They do get credit for giving us a reason to turn down the volume and take in some great Rock listening.  Does that mean they get credit for inspiring MTV's Unplugged series?
